Isaiah's Name for the Unfindable You
🎧 Today's devotional — listen while you start your day
I was trying to fix a cabinet door yesterday, and one of the screws was completely stripped. I mean, totally ruined. You get to a point with something like that where you realize, getting this out is going to do more damage than it's worth. It's easier to just leave it. And honestly? Sometimes we feel like that stripped screw. Not just lost, but like we've become a problem that's too complicated to solve, a burden nobody has the energy for. We start to isolate ourselves just to make it easier on everyone else.
Thou shalt be called, Sought out. — Isaiah 62:12The Briefing
That little phrase from Isaiah is so much heavier than it looks. God doesn't just say we'll be 'sought.' He says we'll be 'sought out.' And there's a world of difference between the two. I mean, you seek for your keys on the counter. You look around, you pat your pockets. But you seek out something that’s truly lost. Something that's fallen into the filth, into the sewer. Something you have to dig through grime and garbage to find. You seek out a sheep that didn't just wander into the next field but got itself tangled in thorns, miles away in a country it doesn't know. The search is harder. It costs more. It's a rescue, not just a recovery. And that's the story of God's grace. It's not that we were just misplaced. We were desperately lost. We were mixed in with the mire, so hidden by our own junk and shame that it didn't seem possible for anyone to find us, let alone want to. We weren't just a dropped coin. We were a treasure in the trash heap. And that's where God came for us. He wasn't afraid to get His hands dirty. His love wasn't put off by the smell. Look, the amazing thing isn't just that anyone would be sought out like this. It's that we were. You and me. For no other reason than His own sovereign love. He didn't see potential we could offer Him. He saw beloved children buried under rubble and began to dig. He never gives up the search. He never calls a soul a lost cause. His wisdom and His power mean He never fails the rescue. We're not just some random meteor flashing through the void. He put us here. And when we wander, He pulls us back into orbit around His love. It's the central axis of everything. He finds us and brings us home. That's a name we get to wear tonight: 'Sought Out.'
⚔️ Your Mission
This one is going to cost a little pride. Think of one person whose work makes your life better, but whom you've never really seen or acknowledged. The person who cleans your office, the cashier at the grocery store, the mail carrier. Seek them out today. Learn their name. And thank them, specifically, for what they do. If that's not where you are, then seek out a moment of private truth: the next time you start to complain about someone, stop. Out loud, force yourself to say one true, good thing you know about them instead. Don't overthink it, just do this. We need to practice seeking out the good."Almighty God, we confess that we hide. We make ourselves small and quiet because we feel like we are too much trouble. We believe the lie that we aren't worth the search. Thank you for not believing it with us. Thank you for seeking us out, for digging through the filth to find us. Help us rest in the stunning reality that we are found. Let that be enough for today. In Jesus' name... Amen."Tomorrow’s Eb, in your inboxOne short devotional each morning, audio included. Unsubscribe any time.

Read the records of the community below.AnthonyOctober 15, 2026Man, that “unfindable you” part? Yo, big facts. So many of my young G’s feel that way. Like the block don’t see them, the school don’t see them. But God still got a name for ‘em. Still got a plan. That’s it right there. Knowing that makes a difference. A real difference. Gotta run, ball practice soon. 👊🔥

Thou shalt be called, Sought out.Isaiah 62:12
In this part of Isaiah, God is making a promise to His people. He declares they will receive a new name to define their new identity, and that name is "Sought Out."
The phrase points to a difficult and determined search. It’s the difference between looking for something you dropped on the floor and hunting for something precious that's been lost in a terrible place. It describes a relentless effort that won't quit, no matter how hidden or far gone someone is.
In today's English, God's promise is simple: "You will be called the one who was sought out."

Ah now, sure God finds us every time, doesn’t He? That title, “Unfindable You”, gave me a proper smile this morning with my Barry’s. Brilliant altogether!
