    Your Unseen Exaltation

🎧 Today's devotional — listen while you start your day

Let's just take a quiet moment. It's Friday. You remember the early two thousands? Maybe you had an AIM screen name, or a MySpace profile. You spent hours picking the perfect song, the right quote, the top eight friends. It was all about crafting a version of you that was just a little cooler, a little smarter, a little more interesting than you felt. We still do it, just on different apps. And we all know that gap between the person we present, and the one who's actually living our life.

Him hath God exalted. — Acts 5:31

    The Briefing

That language feels a little old, right? Let's just say it plain: God has lifted him high. And honestly? My first thought is, 'Good for him.' Of course God exalted Jesus. He earned it. He deserved it. But Peter, who's the one speaking here, isn't just giving a status update on Jesus. He's making a statement about us. Think about it. We spend so much of our lives trying to exalt ourselves. We curate the photos, we rehearse the conversation, we manage the reputation. We do all this work to present a version of ourselves that’s worthy of being lifted up, even in a small way. And it's exhausting, isn't it? The constant pressure to be seen, to be known, to be… enough. And all the while, we're deeply aware of the gap between the person we present and the person we actually are. But this verse isn't about our performance. It’s about our representative. Jesus doesn't just sit on a throne for us, like an ambassador in a distant country. The Bible's claim is way more radical. We are in Him. We're part of His body. His exaltation is our exaltation. When God the Father looks at His Son, robed in glory, He sees us too. That truth is the salt that stings our pride, but it's also the solution that dissolves our shame. It means our standing with God has absolutely nothing to do with how well we're doing today. He isn't glorified without His bride. That's us. We are, right now, seated with Him in the heavenly places. So the call for us isn't to hustle for a better position. It's to live out the one we've already been given. It’s okay to be unknown for a while. It’s okay to walk through poverty or affliction. Because our true identity, our permanent address, is already secure. It's exalted.

    ⚔️ Your Mission

Here is the work. Sometime today, find five minutes of quiet. Your car in the parking lot, a back office, anywhere you can be alone. No phone. Ask God this one question out loud: 'Who am I to You, right now?' Then sit in the silence and let His finished work be the answer. If that's not possible today, then tonight, before you turn on the TV or scroll your phone, take those five minutes. Let His voice be louder than the day's.
"Almighty God, we get so tired of performing. We are exhausted from trying to lift ourselves up. Quiet the noise in our heads that tells us we're not enough, that we have to do more, be more. Let the simple truth of this verse be the only thing we hear for a moment. Remind us that we are hidden, and safe, and exalted in Christ. Help us to live from that reality today, not toward it. In Jesus' name... Amen."

This is so timely! Constantly reminded how much we focus on visible metrics, even in faith. “Unseen Exaltation” is exactly what I needed to hear this morning. It’s like, what really happens when no one is watching? That’s the real, intentional work. Actually, our pastor just finished a series on quiet faithfulness, and this feels so aligned. Sharing this.

“Unseen Exaltation” — that phrasing. Initially feels like a data gap. But perhaps the ‘unseen’ isn’t a missing value, but a different access layer. Worth sitting with.

    Him hath God exalted.Acts 5:31

Peter is the one speaking here. He and the other apostles are on trial before the same religious council that had Jesus killed. When they're ordered to stop talking about Jesus, Peter makes this bold declaration right to their faces, explaining who the man they crucified really is.

When Peter says God "exalted" Jesus, he means God didn't just raise him from the dead—he gave him the highest possible place of honor in heaven. This exaltation isn't for Jesus alone. Because believers are spiritually united with him, his victory is their victory. He acts as our glorious representative, and we are destined to share in the honor and happiness he now possesses.

In modern English, this phrase simply means, "God has lifted him to the highest place."
