Matthew: Finding Christ's Rescue When Life Feels Overwhelming

    February 14, 2026

Good to have you, Mason here. Let's get into it. Yesterday, we hit on God's continuous, saving power... Yet, there is another layer to this... The quiet ping of a notification... then another. It's February 14th, Valentine's Day, and your feeds are probably full of perfectly curated moments, right? For some, it's pure joy. For others, it's a crushing weight, making us feel like we're barely treading water. We see all the 'perfect' connections, the grand gestures, and maybe, just maybe, it leaves us feeling a little… alone. It’s easy to get swept away, to feel like we’re starting to sink under the pressure of what 'should' be, or the ache of what isn't...

"There is a verse in Matthew, Chapter 14, Verse 30, that says: 'Beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.'" — Matthew 14:30

    The Briefing

Simple enough to memorize, deep enough to lose yourself in. Matthew records this raw, honest moment. Peter, walking on water, suddenly sees the storm, and he starts to sink. His prayer isn't elegant or long. It's three words. 'Lord, save me.' And Jesus doesn't hesitate... His hand is there, immediately. It's a powerful reminder that our most desperate cries are often our most EFFECTIVE. We might feel like Peter, mid-ocean, suddenly capsizing in the choppy waters of life's expectations or loneliness. The currents of comparison can pull us under, making us feel like we're fighting windward against overwhelming odds. But the beautiful truth is, our extremities are The Lord's opportunities. Our desperate, short cries are heard. They are the ultimate course correction, redirecting our focus from the storm to the ONE who can calm it. When we are at our weakest, when we can do nothing else, Jesus can do everything...

    ⚔️ Your Mission

Here is how we walk this out. Today, for what it's worth, physical stewardship means acknowledging where you feel like you're capsizing physically—that exhaustion, that nagging ache, that sense of being completely drained. Don't overthink it, just do this: Find a quiet moment. Sit down, close your eyes. Even if it's just for a minute. And simply say: 'Lord, save me' from this physical burden, this weariness. It doesn't have to be perfect, just honest. It's a simple course correction for your body and your spirit, allowing Jesus to meet you exactly where you are...
"Let’s pray... Gracious God, on this day, when the world pressures us to feel a certain way, we admit we often feel ourselves sinking. We claim the promise that when we cry out, You hear us. When we feel overwhelmed, You are our rescue. We stand firm in the knowledge that our desperate cries are enough, and Your saving hand is ALWAYS extended. Strengthen us, Lord, in our moments of weakness. In Jesus' name... Amen."

Now then, that was a grand listen. Mason talking about God’s continuous, saving power, especially when life feels a bit much. You know, even with retirement, life gets complicated. Trying to coordinate all the volunteers for the soup kitchen, checking in on Mrs. O’Malley, and making sure the grandkids get their proper Sunday dinner can get overwhelming. But this idea, that Christ’s rescue isn’t just for the massive storms, but for the daily, smaller worries? Brilliant. It helps me to truly pause. To see that steady hand, right there in the midst of trying to balance schedules and temperaments. It’s not just about Him saving me from some disaster, but rescuing me from feeling swamped by the small things, too.

    God bless, Mary.

Okay, so this Eb devotional, “Finding Christ’s Rescue When Life Feels Overwhelming”… legit. Real talk, juggling work projects and getting the kids to school, it’s a constant fire drill. Yesterday, Mason talked about God’s continuous power – that hit differently today. It’s not just a one-and-done deal. Like, when the morning explodes and I’m about to lose it, remembering that continuous rescue makes you pause. It helps me see God right there, not just in the big Sunday sermon or when the band is playing.

You don't have to carry it alone.
