Finding Stillness: How 1 Peter Anchors Us in the Swell of Worry Today...

    January 28, 2026

Back for your daily touchstone? I love to see it... Welcome to The Daily Eb, a moment to align your heart with God's rhythm... Yesterday, we talked about how The Lord can see the light in our hearts, even when we feel surrounded by gloom... and how He preserves that light... ... ... This is Part 3 of our 4-part series on Finding Rest There... I was thinking about getting my old sailboat ready for the summer season... A long time ago, a buddy and I decided to spend a summer out on Lake Michigan... I remember getting out there, a few miles offshore, and feeling the waves getting bigger and bigger... I mean, we were only 22, right? We didn't know anything... Anyway... The wind really started to pick up, and we realized we were in trouble... We struggled for what felt like hours trying to get the sails down... The boat was listing at, like, 45 degrees... and then, finally, we got the sails furled and just dropped anchor... We rode it out... I mean, that anchor... it was the only thing between us and disaster... I've been thinking about that lately...

"Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you."— 1 Peter 5:7

    The Briefing

This feels like a gut-punch, in a good way... It’s funny how a few ancient words can read your mail so clearly... Peter is talking about those moments when you're tossed about... feels like the wind and waves are gonna take you under... you know, those times when the weight of everything just feels like too much... I mean... what does it even mean to 'cast your cares?'... It’s not just about, like, ignoring your problems, right?... it's about actively handing them over to The Lord... The Lord doesn't just, like, *know* about your struggles, but actually *cares* about them... He sees you in the middle of your storm... I mean, think about that old anchor chain... Every link takes the strain... Every inch holds you fast... The Lord wants you to be free of the worry... He wants you to get out of the storm...

    ⚔️ Your Mission

I have a challenge for you... Think about that one thing that's been weighing you down... that one worry that keeps you up at night... Your mission today is to write it down... Maybe that looks like finding a quiet place, closing your eyes, and really letting yourself feel the weight of it... Then, picture yourself handing it over to The Lord... Imagine those chains dropping away... I mean... you are the one that needs to drop them...
"Let’s lift this up together... Jesus, we come to you with our burdens... with the worries that weigh us down... Help us to trust in your care, to release those burdens into your loving hands... Give us strength to face the storms of life, knowing that you are our anchor and our refuge... In Jesus' name... Amen."

Hey Niff, so glad you’re here and that today’s word hit home. It’s wild how we can know God is in control intellectually, but still catch ourselves white-knuckling the “heavy stuff” through the week.

I love that you’re leaning into that freedom. That’s exactly why we’re here—to remind each other that the weight isn’t ours to carry. You’re seen, you’re cared for, and you definitely don’t have to do this alone.

Keep marking those moments of peace!

This was a much-needed reminder that I don’t have to carry the weight of this week alone. The Lord doesn’t just, know about my struggles, but actually cares about them… He knows me and wants me to be free of the worry…

You don't have to carry it alone.
