Illuminated Truth: How Moses and Genesis Guide Us Through Darkness Today...
It's good to be with you today... Welcome to The Daily Eb, your daily anchor in a spinning world... Yesterday, we talked about prioritizing the structure of our character over the mere facade... ... ... This is Part 1 of our 4-part series on Finding Rest There... Think about the moment you realize the power's gone out. Total darkness... The fridge stops humming, the clocks reset... Then, the relief when a flashlight beam cuts through the black... Or, maybe the opposite... the unexpected glare of headlights rounding a corner, blinding you for a split second... Both moments, darkness and light, can reveal what's really there...
"And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness."— Genesis 1:4The Briefing
There's a specific kind of weight to these words... Moses isn't just talking about the sun rising. Moses is talking about discernment... about the crucial act of separating what's life-giving from what suffocates... Like sorting through old wiring in a house, you know? Finding the frayed connections, the potential fire hazards... That's what this verse feels like... Moses highlights that light, gospel light, reveals the glory of God and exposes sin for what it is... Then Moses throws down a challenge. He reminds us that churches, and we ourselves, must divide the light from darkness... It’s not enough to just acknowledge the light; we have to actively dismantle the shadows, right? Discernment isn't a passive thing; it's an active choice, a constant calibration...
⚔️ Your Mission
Let's make this practical... Your mission today is to audit your heart. To rewire the circuits of your day... To find the places where darkness is seeping in. Maybe that looks like silencing the news for an hour... Maybe it means having a brutally honest conversation with yourself... Maybe it means taking a break from social media or cutting off a toxic relationship... Whatever it is... cut the connection. Separate yourself... Expose it to the light and ask for guidance from above."Spirit, come level the ground for us... Father, we confess the shadows we've allowed to linger. The compromises we've made... Shine your light on the hidden corners of our hearts. Help us to courageously separate what is good from what is not. Give us the strength to live in the light of Your truth... In Jesus' name... Amen."
