Ezekiel's Vision: Building Stillness in Your Restless World
🎧 Today's devotional — listen while you start your day
Glad you're here. Just a few minutes ago, I was wiping down my kitchen counter, my hands moving almost on autopilot, scrubbing away the morning's crumbs. It’s funny how simple, everyday tasks can make you pause and realize what’s truly steady in your life. This morning, I hope you can find that same quiet stability as we dive into your daily briefing for the spiritual journey. Let's turn to a short but powerful phrase from Ezekiel.
Whereas the Lord was there. — Ezekiel 35:10The Briefing
Ezekiel's witness points us to a profound truth: 'Whereas the Lord was there.' Think about that for a moment. In a world constantly pushing us to be the 'main character' of a perfectly curated feed, to have an aesthetic life and a 'that girl' morning routine, the exhaustion can be overwhelming. We perform, we strive, we accumulate unread emails like digital dust bunnies, each one a little demand on our attention. It’s like we’re delicate porcelain, constantly developing tiny cracks from the pressure of performing a life instead of simply living one. But let's be real for a second.. In all that striving, in all the places where we feel ourselves splintering, the Lord is there. He’s not just observing; He is present, anchoring the very ground beneath our feet. This isn't about us perfecting our lives; it's about His steady presence holding us together. Like kintsugi, where broken pottery is made beautiful by gold lacquer filling its cracks, His presence doesn't just fix us; it makes our story, our brokenness, a testament to His enduring love. Our striving doesn't earn His presence; it simply highlights where His hands are already holding us.
⚔️ Your Mission
Here is your assignment for today: Pay attention to the 'cracks' you see around you—not just in physical objects, but in people. Maybe that looks like leaving an anonymous note of encouragement for a colleague who seems overwhelmed, or paying for the next person's coffee without them knowing it was your hands that offered that small kindness. Let your anonymous generosity be a quiet, practical 'kintsugi' moment for someone today."Father, we’re leaning into the silence here. Quiet the noise in our heads, the endless to-do lists, the pressure to perform. Help us simply rest in the truth that you are here. No striving, no earning, just your steady, anchoring presence. Gracious God, In Jesus' name... Amen."

The concept of building stillness in your restless world, not needing to escape it, feels incredibly relevant right now. It’s like, even with client deadlines flying or prepping for the tech setup for the worship set, I can choose to take those few seconds to intentionally pause. Just breathe, notice, and recognize God is right there, right in the middle of the crazy. That’s a powerful next step for my week.

Dude, this Ezekiel thing? Wild. Like, I’m picturing that crazy vision, all those wheels within wheels, and my brain just goes to a Friday night rush. Everything’s spinning, loud, totally chaotic. But the idea that God’s in that, man, not just when everything’s chill? That’s kinda mind-blown. Makes me think of the bar, even when it’s slammed, maybe just taking a damn breath and noticing something real. Instead of just drowning.
