The Last Sentence That Changes Everything
🎧 Today's devotional — listen while you start your day
It’s good to be with you today. Thanks for showing up. It’s that moment late on a Friday night. The house is quiet. The screens are off. And the feeling you’ve been outrunning all week with busyness finally catches up. It's not just exhaustion. It's that low hum of avoidance, the sense that you’re not really resting, you’re just hiding from the feeling that comes when you stop moving. The feeling that you're somehow.. off course.
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all. — Isaiah 53:6The Briefing
Isaiah’s words are a two-part diagnosis and a one-part cure. First, the diagnosis: 'All we like sheep have gone astray.' That’s all of us. No exceptions. It’s the universal condition. Then it gets personal: 'we have turned every one to his own way.' This isn't just a group problem; it's my problem. Your problem. We each have our own unique autopilot, our own preferred way of wandering that feels like control. But the verse doesn't stop there.. and honestly? This is where everything changes. The Lord doesn't just watch us drift off course. He's not a distant air traffic controller. The text says He acts. He 'laid on Him the iniquity of us all.' God Himself gathers up the weight of our wandering, the full cost of our insistence on grabbing the controls, and places it on the Suffering Servant. This is the great trade at the heart of reality, the promise that reorients everything. So when we're lying awake at night, feeling that hum of anxiety that says we're off course, this truth isn't meant to crush us. It’s the prelude to a song. Our confession of being lost is the runway for His rescue. The anxiety we feel from trying to manage our own flight path, that constant need for more thrust to just get through the day,was nailed to the cross. He took the controls in the most chaotic moment so that we could find rest in the cockpit, even in the storm. This is where we turn theology into biography, by believing that the worst part of the story has already been handled by Him.
⚔️ Your Mission
Let's make this practical... Today’s mission is a cognitive reframe. Name the one specific anxiety you're wrestling with, the situation where you feel most lost or insistent on your own way. Let's get concrete: Say it out loud. Then, speak this truth over it: 'The Lord has laid the iniquity of this on Him.' Trade your anxiety for His promise."Gracious God, we confess it. We love our own way. We wander off and then wonder why we feel so lost and tired. Thank you that Your response isn't condemnation, but the cross. Thank you for making the great trade, for laying our sin on Jesus so we could know Your peace. Help us to stop trying to fly the plane ourselves and to trust the Pilot who has already brought us through the storm. Let us rest in the finished work of the cross. In Jesus' name... Amen."

Like the whole world just shifts on its axis a little, and you see everything differently. Been feeling something similar lately, like a melody finally resolving in a way I didn’t expect. Like the drive home after practice, when the city lights just sort of click into place. So good.🌿 Needed this perspective today… yeah.
