Romans 4 and the Live Wire to Heaven

It's good to be with you today. I have to confess something. I've had those Sundays. You sit in the service, the music is beautiful, the sermon is solid.. and the words feel true, but also very, very far away. Like you're hearing good news about a country you'll never visit. It's an isolating feeling, right? Like there's a disconnect somewhere between your head and your heart. It’s in those moments that we practice the presence of God.

The Briefing

Stay with me here.. because those three words from Paul can feel like a bar we’ll never clear. "Strong in faith." It sounds like something you either have or you don't, like being tall. But that's not what he's getting at. The text isn't describing a personality trait; it’s describing a functional connection. Think about it this way. God is a power source of infinite blessing, infinite help, infinite love. He isn't withholding. He isn't distant. He has always been ready to send provision. And He designed one specific way for that provision to get from His throne to our lives, through faith. It’s the live wire. It’s the angelic messenger. It’s the only conduit that links our chaos to His calm, our need to His supply. Prayer itself doesn't just float up to heaven. It travels on the line of faith. If that line is down, if we're wavering, doubting, tangled in uncertainty, then the messages can't get through. Not because God stopped listening, but because we've lost our grip on the receiver. Look, this isn’t about earning His help. It's about engaging the system He built for our good. Faith isn't the power, God is. Faith is the wire that plugs us into that power. So when you feel that disconnect, that static on the line, don’t beat yourself up for not being a spiritual giant. Just check the connection. Being strong in faith isn't about flexing some spiritual muscle. It's about tending to the wire. It's about the simple, sometimes gritty choice to believe He is on the other end and that He will answer, and then sending the message.
