Solomon's Two Words That Defeat Exhaustion

    June 25, 2026

🎧 Today's devotional — listen while you start your day

Good to have you back. It's Thursday. The weekend is visible, but the tank is low. You know that feeling? When you're doing good, meaningful work, but it's still draining you. Meaning doesn't prevent exhaustion. You hit a point where you've given everything you have, and you look at the calendar and realize there's still another day to get through. It’s a quiet, specific kind of emptiness. And it's in that space that God often speaks the loudest.

My beloved. — Song of Songs 2:8

    The Briefing

Let that sit for a second, because some verses inform you. This one finds you. Just two words. 'My beloved.' It’s what Solomon records the ancient Church calling out to God, long before they’d ever seen His face. Think about that. Even in the dead of winter, through generations of idolatry and silence, this was the name they held onto. It wasn't a name they earned. It was a name they received. This is God’s heart laid bare. He doesn't just tolerate us. He doesn't just manage us. He sees us as His beloved. This isn't just poetry; it's a statement of divine possession and fierce affection. It’s the truth that made the apostle Paul look at persecution, famine, and the sword and say that none of it could separate us from this love. Because when you know you are the beloved of the God who made everything, everything else finds its proper size. And honestly? That's pure oxygen for a tired soul. For us, on the home stretch of a long week, it’s easy to get our identity tangled up in what we produce. Our title. Our performance. Our exhaustion. We live on the highway of hurry, always looking for the next exit ramp. But this verse.. this is different. It’s not about what we're doing. It’s about who we are. We’re not just 'the one who’s behind on email' or 'the one who’s barely holding it together.' In the one opinion that actually matters, we are His beloved. That’s the destination. It’s where we turn theology into biography.

    ⚔️ Your Mission

Let's put this into practice. This isn't about adding another task. It's about receiving an identity. Consider this: find ten minutes today. That's it. No phone, no podcast, no agenda. Just sit in the quiet and let those two words be your only thought,'My beloved.' Whisper them back to God. Let it be an act of remembering who you are when all the noise is stripped away.
"Lord God, the world gives us so many other names. Tired. Busy. Not enough. Quiet the noise in our heads so we can hear the name You give us. Let the truth that we are Your beloved sink deeper than our exhaustion. Let it be the anchor that holds us steady through the rest of this day. May we rest in that identity, not in our own strength. In Jesus' name... Amen."

Yep. Two words. Spot on. Had a talk with young Mike in the truck yesterday about not overcomplicating things. Simple truth, folks.

Just pulled over after Noah spilled his snack everywhere, then saw this title. TWO words to defeat exhaustion? Yes Lord, sign me UP! Feels like a lifeline right now. Amen!
