Unearthing Joy: How Solomon Helps Us Uncover Hidden Grace Today...
Alright! Digital rabbit hole avoided. Nice work. Let’s dive in... Welcome to The Daily Eb, where we learn to live from rest, not for rest... Yesterday we were looking at Joshua's words about weary travelers finally reaching their destination, but even those still on the journey can experience the fruits of the promised land through faith and the Holy Spirit... ... ... This is Part 2 of our 4-part series on Daily Bread... Glad Hearts... I saw a young couple yesterday, sitting on a park bench... both staring at their phones, but their shoulders were touching... It was a cold day, you know?... and they were both bundled up, but somehow, they seemed miles apart, even sitting right next to each other... Then I saw an elderly couple, holding hands... their faces were lined, but their eyes sparkled when they looked at each other... they weren't distracted by anything else... they were just… present... If you're feeling that disconnect right now, like the distance between those faces on the bench, let it be a reminder to re-center…
"We will be glad and rejoice in Thee."— Song of Songs 1:4The Briefing
This one… it hits home... Solomon isn't just talking about some fleeting feeling... he's talking about a conscious choice... a determined act of the will... It's like digging through layers of sediment to find a foundation stone, you know?... We choose to rejoice, not because everything is perfect, but because Jesus is present... It’s about unearthing that joy, even when the topsoil of life is rough... When Solomon speaks of driving away griefs and setting up banners of confidence, it reminds me of uncovering an old mosaic... each tile, a memory of The Lord's faithfulness... The challenge isn't denying the grief, but rather, recognizing the deeper, abiding joy that underlies it... It’s like finding an ancient wellspring... the water may be obscured by debris, but the source is still pure and life-giving... Solomon understood that choosing gladness is like excavating a hidden treasure... a treasure that enriches not just the moment, but the entire year...
⚔️ Your Mission
Let's put this into practice... Your mission today is to unearth a moment of gladness... maybe that looks like intentionally noticing a small blessing... or choosing to speak a word of encouragement instead of complaint... perhaps it means simply allowing yourself to feel the joy that's already there, beneath the surface... Then, mark the ground... write it down in The Ink..."Let's wrap this time in prayer... Dear Lord, we ask for the strength to choose joy, even when it feels difficult... Help us to see the blessings that surround us, and to trust in Your unwavering presence... Thank you for being our source of gladness and rejoicing... In Jesus' name... Amen."
