We need to constantly be refreshed, because this life can drain the heck out of us... And the cost of keeping things running can feel impossible... The ink isn't just for spiritual thoughts – it’s for tracking the real-life ways The Lord provides...

The Briefing

This one... it hits home... Isaiah writes that everything needs renewal... Nothing on earth can sustain itself... That includes you and me... He uses the image of trees drawing sap from the earth to illustrate how we need constant restoration from The Lord... When we neglect The Lord, our faith withers... Isaiah reminds us that without constant restoration, we're vulnerable to the assaults of hell, the trials of life, and our own internal struggles... This is the capstone of a few things we've been talking about... Joshua writes of weary travelers finally reaching their destination, but even those still on the journey can experience the fruits of the promised land through faith and the Holy Spirit... Solomon calls us to consciously choose joy and dig deep to find the foundation of trust and gladness in Jesus, despite the griefs of life... and Paul is urging us to consider that prayer is a constant connection with The Lord, not a one-time event... So, together, all of these authors are pointing us to the never-ending need to find our source, and continually receive from The Lord...
