Flickering Faith: How Moses and Genesis Help Us Find Light in the Chaos Today...

    January 24, 2026

Peace to you in the middle of all the noise... It’s good to be with you today... Thanks for showing up... Welcome to The Daily Eb, where we learn to walk by faith, not by sight... ... ... This is Part 4 of our 4-part series on Grace and Guidance... Yesterday we were looking at how you have to actively seek opportunities to deepen your understanding of Jesus, to extend your love to others, and to humble yourselves before The Lord... This one... it’s been rattling around in my head all morning... I mean... Pineapple belongs on pizza, fight me... I'm just kidding...kind of... It's all subjective, right? What tastes great to one person is garbage to another... And sometimes we get so caught up in our own tastes, we miss what's right in front of us... ... Let's turn to Genesis, Chapter 42, Verse 8... 'And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him.'...

"And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him."— Genesis 42:8

    The Briefing

This feels like a gut-punch, in a good way... In Genesis, Moses writes about Joseph recognizing his brothers, who, in turn, don't recognize him... It's a stark image... It got me thinking about how often we're in that same boat with Jesus... He sees us, knows us intimately, flaws and all, long before we even begin to grasp who He is... We're like those oblivious brothers, caught up in our own little worlds, missing the bigger picture... We mistrust Him, rebel against Him, allow Him no entrance to our love... It's not that Jesus doesn't make Himself known, it's that we're often too blind to see, too deaf to hear, too preoccupied to notice... We've talked about it all week... the ways Jesus is a gift, an inheritance, the preparation for a way to meet Him... But it's still a lot of work... This scripture says that relationship is already established, even if you don't know it yet... Moses reminds us that the ignorance isn't on His side... He's not waiting for us to measure up before He acknowledges us... He already knows us, already loves us...

    ⚔️ Your Mission

Let's make this practical... Think about a time you felt truly unseen, maybe in a crowd, or even in a relationship... Your mission today is to reach out to someone who might be feeling that way right now... Acknowledge their existence... Really see them... Maybe that looks like a simple phone call, a handwritten note, or just a genuine conversation... It’s about mirroring what Jesus does for us – extending recognition and love even when it's not reciprocated... It's about shining a light where someone else might be in the dark...
"Let’s settle our hearts and talk to Him... Jesus, thank you for seeing us, for knowing us completely... Help us to open our eyes to your presence and to extend that same grace to others... Soften our hearts to your voice, and help us to not be so preoccupied that we miss you... Help us to see with eyes of love... In Jesus' name... Amen."

Matthew, you hit the nail on the head. It’s usually the simplest acts that carry the most weight, but they’re also the easiest to forget in the daily rush. Love that you already have a specific person on your heart—that’s exactly what ‘noticing the details’ is all about. Hope that connection brings a little extra light to both of your days!

Elizabeth, this is so real. That feeling of ‘fighting solo’ is one of the biggest lies of a busy season, isn’t it? I love to visualize the image of a whole crowd standing right behind you—especially Jesus leading the charge. Sometimes we just need to stop the noise for a second to actually hear the cheering. So glad you’re finding that strength today!
