Hosea's Urgent Call for a Drifting Soul

    July 20, 2026

🎧 Today's devotional — listen while you start your day

I know it’s a lot out there right now, but I’m glad you’re here. I saw a picture of myself from about ten years ago on my phone the other day. It wasn't the younger face that got me. It was the look in the eyes. I remember that season. Full of energy, but running on fumes. Spiritually thin. You know that feeling? Not a full-blown crisis of faith, just… running on vapors. Like you're moving, but you're not sure you're getting anywhere.

It is time to seek the Lord. — Hosea 10:12

    The Briefing

Now check this out.. Some verses comfort. This one confronts. And make no mistake, that confrontation is a mercy. Hosea isn't giving us a gentle suggestion here. He's sounding an alarm. 'It is time to seek the Lord.' He's saying the moment to get your bearings is now, before the storm gets worse. This reveals something potent about God's character. He's not just a patient Father waiting on the porch. He's also the watchman on the wall, shouting a warning because He loves us too much to let us drift onto the rocks without a call. This urgency isn't anger, it's grace with a deadline. And for us, seeking the Lord isn't about frantically trying to sail windward against our own failures. It's about finding our True North. It's about realizing that Christ already hoisted the mast and set the sail. He sought us when we were drifting leeward, totally lost. He came into the storm for us. So for us, this verse isn't a call to earn our way back. It's an urgent invitation to stop trying to navigate by the shifting winds of our feelings or the culture's currents. When our spiritual life gets thin, when we feel that emptiness, the temptation is to just try harder. But this passage calls us to do something different. Not just try harder, but to trade our frantic steering for His steady hand. It's time to seek the Lord,to find our clarity not in our effort, but in His finished work. That's the only anchor that holds.

    ⚔️ Your Mission

Let's make this practical... Go outside for sixty seconds today. Find one thing in nature,a cloud, a leaf, the way the wind moves. And say this out loud: 'You made this. It is time for me to seek the One who holds it all together.' Let creation be the compass that points you back to the Creator.
"Father, we lift up our friends, our family, the ones we know are spiritually exhausted and running on vapors. For the one whose name is on our heart right now, we ask You to sound the alarm of Your grace in their soul. Let them hear the urgent, loving call to seek You. Remind them that the time is now, and Your arms are open. Pull their gaze from the storm and fix it on Your steady hand. In Jesus' name... Amen."

Man, almost just scrolled past this after soccer practice, chaos is real. But that “drifting soul” bit? Legit. Reminds me of when a project gets off track. Gotta realign, recalibrate. No joke.

That ‘drifting not crashing’ line just… yeah. So good. It’s not a huge fall, but just a slow move. Sitting with that, thinking about a worship set I’m prepping. 🌿
